ALTERNATIVE CERTIFICATION OBSERVATION

The State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC) requires a minimum of thrity (30) hours of observation prior to the beginning of internship. Documentation of the twenty hours of observation must be submitted to the AC Office prior to recommendation for a probationary certificate.

The primary goal of the observation hours is to help students gain an understanding of the expectations of teachers in a modern society, and make an informed decision on whether or not teaching matches his/her career aspirations.

Observation must take place in the EC-12 School setting and it is recommended that observation take place at the level and teaching field of the certification you are pursuing.

You may contact a school in your area and request a placement for observation or you may follow the AC OBSERVATION APPLICATION below and we will assist with a placement once you have made application to our AC program. A criminal history background check (CHBC) will need to be submitted prior to requesting a placement for you. The appropriate links/forms for CHBC may be found on the application page.
