After completion of all degree and/or certification requirements, students must apply for their teaching certificates in the Center for Educator Certification and Academic Services (CECAS).  Before the State Board for Educator Certification issues a certificate, a criminal history background check will be conducted which could result in the denial of certification to those persons with felony or misdemeanor convictions.

 Requirements for certification:

  1. Continued admission and retention in the Teacher Education Program.
  2. Successful completion of all requirements listed on the degree evaluation, including required GPA's and appropriate tests (i.e., ExCET/TExES and TOPT).  Note: Degree must be conferred by the university.

Revised May 9, 2002.
