of Educator Certification Requirements: |
Successful completion of an approve 8-12 Master MAthematics Program which includes a field-based practicum;
Succesful completion of required TExES exam;
Teaching certificate for 6-12 or 8-12 Mathematics;
Three years of teaching experience in a public or accredited private school

Graduate
School Requirements: |
• an application for admission to
Graduate Studies;
• a $35.00 non-refundable application fee;
• an official bachelor’s degree transcript and a transcript
from any school at which the student has completed
graduate courses (these transcripts should be sent directly to the
Office of Graduate Studies and Research by the issuing institutions);
• an official copy of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
must be submitted to the Office of Graduate Studies and Research
through the Educational Testing Service. Candidates pursuing a Masters
of Science or Education in Secondary Education may submit passing
scores on the ExCET Professional Development or TExES Pedagogy and
Professional Responsibilities Exam or provide a valid teaching certificate
in lieu of GRE but the GRE is recommended; and
• a 2.75 Overall GPA or 3.0 in last 60 undergraduate hours.

Departmental
Requirements: |
• An electronic application to the certification
program;
• A $50 application fee;
• A copy of the applicant’s valid Texas Teaching Certificate
for 8-12 mathematics;
• Service record documenting a minimum of three years of teaching
experience;
• Official bachelor's and master's (if applicable) degree transcripts;
• One letter of recommendation from school administrator; and
• Scores from the Graduate Record Exam (GRE), TExES Pedagogy
and Professional Responsibilities Exam, ExCET Professional Development
Exam or valid teaching certificate. |
Requirements
for Certification: |
• Completion of 6 courses outlined
on certification plan with grades of “B” or better.
Courses included are:
o MATH 572: Calculus of real and complex functions for
teachers
o MATH 573: Modern Applications of Mathematics for Teachers
o MATH 560: Euclidean and non-Euclidean Geometry
o MATH 597: Probability and Statistics for Teachers
o EDCI 535: Leadership & Supervision in School Settings
o SSED 521: models of Teaching in the Secondary School
• Workshop
• Passing scores on the TEXMAT 089 Master Mathematics
